Mechanical testing of materials also involves testing components such as CFRP unit cell, TMT rebars, SENB (single edge bend specimen), concrete cubes, slabs and beams, rock materials, rails, and I-channels in addition to conventional coupon level testing. The component level testing requires high loads over the range 500 to 3000 kN. These test systems are built using a four-column high stiffness load-frame and on the bottom has a spacious T-slot bed to provide flexibility to mount grips, fixtures or mechanical assemblies. These machines find applications in static and fatigue testing of metallic components, wire ropes, rebars, rails, concrete and aerospace components.
The self-reacting four column load frame has lift cylinders to facilitate change of vertical daylight to accommodate test specimens and components of various dimensions.
